Couple 'wed' at Billericay FC

SINCE they are a perfect match, newlyweds Tracy and Mick Stanners decided to play out their love on the pitch.

And there was no shortage of something blue at the pair's nuptials as they got married at the grounds of their favourite football team, Billericay Town.

Tracy and Mick, who have also been stewards at the club's ground for three years, decided to cement their love by repeating their vows on the pitch after a registry office wedding, watched from the terraces by friends and relatives.

Mick, of Hill Avenue, Wickford, said: "I've supported the club since I was 14 and me and Tracy go to all the home and away matches.

"To get married on the pitch was my ultimate dream."

The couple, both aged 42, were married at Chelmsford Registry Office on Friday and had the blessing at the football ground on Saturday, with Tracy being chauffeured in a Mercedes belonging to club chairman Steve Kent with the number plate RICAY.

Tracy, who wore a glamorous strapless white gown, made a moving pledge to Mick: "My heart will be your shelter and my arms will be your home."

Angela Casper, who presided over the ceremony, said: "May you be together forever as a team, supporting each other to help each other realise your dreams."

After the ceremony, Mick said: "It has been amazing to have everyone here watching the ceremony from the terraces."

The couple celebrated with a reception at the club before flying off to Ireland on their honeymoon.
