Billericay's on the comedy map
BILLERICAY has made it on to a comedy map of England
- thanks to the Bafta award-winning TV series Gavin and Stacey.
The Comedyengland.com website features the town on its UK map of locations featured in comedy films and funny TV shows.
Gavin and Stacey is about the romance between Essex boy, Gavin Shipman and Welsh girl, Stacey West and the relationship between their very different sets of families and friends, from Billericay and Barry. Although most scenes are filmed in South Glamorgan, series two of the BBC programme is set at the Shipman family home, supposedly in Billericay.
Other venues on the unique map, set to become a popular tourist trail, include Torquay
- the setting for Fawlty Towers and Holmfirth in West Yorkshire, where location scenes for the Last of the Summer Wine were shot.
